Visual reference desk
Chapter-matched gameplay with the exact location, objective, landmark and mistake to avoid.
- OBJECTIVE
- Use the foyer as the central landmark before opening new mansion wings.
- LOOK FOR
- The main staircase, balcony and doors on both sides.
- DO THIS
- Return here when the route branches; it is the safest orientation point.
- AVOID
- Do not carry every key item at once when inventory space is tight.
- OBJECTIVE
- Create enough distance to aim without spending unnecessary ammunition.
- LOOK FOR
- The fixed camera, enemy approach lane and the nearest escape door.
- DO THIS
- Back into the previous camera angle, aim and fire only after the enemy crosses the visual landmark.
- AVOID
- Firing off-screen wastes ammunition if the enemy has not entered the aim line.
- OBJECTIVE
- Clear or bypass the zombie while preserving shotgun shells for stronger threats.
- LOOK FOR
- The refrigerator, counter corner and the zombie crossing the open floor.
- DO THIS
- Aim from behind the counter line and wait for a close, unobstructed shot before firing.
- AVOID
- Do not empty the shotgun here; the room can often be crossed after one knockdown.
Authentic gameplay: captures come from the OldGames emulator when available and are checked against credited editorial references when needed. Every frame is assigned only to the chapter it actually depicts. No AI-generated gameplay artwork or recreated mockups are used.

Character choice and mansion opening
Choose Chris or Jill and establish the first safe inventory route.
First mansion key route established.
-
Step 01
Choose Jill for eight inventory slots and the Lockpick, or Chris for greater health and a smaller six-slot inventory; build the route around that limitation from the first room.
-
Step 02
Take the wooden Emblem from the dining room, investigate the bloodstain, and inspect the western corridor without spending ammunition on every zombie.
-
Step 03
Return to the main hall after the first encounter, collect the character's starting weapon, and inspect each Mansion Key in the inventory so its sword, armor, shield, or helmet designation appears.
-
Step 04
Locate an item-box room early, deposit spare ammunition and puzzle pieces, and leave two open slots before searching a new wing.
First mansion key route established.
Armor Key and mansion puzzles
Open the central mansion network and gather required crests.
Route to the courtyard unlocked.
-
Step 01
Open every accessible door with the current key, discard it only when the game confirms it is useless, and mark still-red rooms on the map for a later return.
-
Step 02
Replace the dining-room Emblem with the Gold Emblem from the piano puzzle, inspect the altered clock, and collect the key revealed by the mechanism.
-
Step 03
Use the Broken Shotgun to hold the ceiling trap if the character route does not provide a rescue, then reserve the real Shotgun for Hunters and bosses.
-
Step 04
Complete the armor, portrait, statue, and attic routes to gather all four crests; during the first Yawn encounter, take the crest and retreat if ammunition is low.
Route to the courtyard unlocked.
Courtyard and Guardhouse
Cross the exterior area and investigate Plant 42.
Guardhouse cleared.
-
Step 01
Place all four crests at the rear exit, carry the crank, and drain the courtyard pool before descending toward the Guardhouse.
-
Step 02
Search the Guardhouse rooms for its keys and chemical clues, push movable furniture before abandoning a room, and keep enough inventory space for the Red Book.
-
Step 03
In the flooded basement, run past the sharks to the control room, drain the water, and collect the items that become reachable afterward.
-
Step 04
Prepare V-JOLT if the current character route permits it, apply it to Plant 42's roots, then finish the weakened plant and collect the Helmet Key from the cleared area.
Guardhouse cleared.
Return to the mansion
Survive stronger enemies and open the final mansion rooms.
Underground route available.
-
Step 01
Expect Hunters as soon as the mansion is re-entered; use short item-box routes, listen before opening corners, and reserve Shotgun shells for unavoidable passages.
-
Step 02
Use the Helmet Key on every remaining matching door and complete the second Yawn battle without standing directly in front of its head.
-
Step 03
Search the newly opened library and upper rooms for the battery, medals, MO Disks, and any partner-related story trigger available to the chosen character.
-
Step 04
Consolidate the crank, battery, healing, and a strong weapon at the nearest box before returning to the courtyard elevator route.
Underground route available.
Tunnels and laboratory access
Complete the underground sequence and descend into the final facility.
Laboratory reached.
-
Step 01
Place the battery in the courtyard mechanism, ride the restored elevator, and use the crank to redirect the waterfall blocking the underground ladder.
-
Step 02
Investigate Enrico's chamber, collect the dropped progression item, and keep moving after the scene rather than fighting every creature in the tunnel.
-
Step 03
Trigger each boulder from a distance, retreat into the previous doorway, and search the newly exposed corridor only after it finishes rolling.
-
Step 04
Defeat or evade Black Tiger, cut or burn through the web, then examine both Doom Books to reveal the medals required at the courtyard fountain.
Laboratory reached.
Laboratory, Tyrant and endings
Unlock the final doors, rescue partners and escape.
Mansion escaped with the chosen ending.
-
Step 01
Collect all three MO Disks, read the laboratory files for terminal clues, and use the computer to unlock the electronic doors before entering the power area.
-
Step 02
Insert every MO Disk into its reader, verify that the partner's cell can be opened, and complete the rescue route before committing to the final elevator.
-
Step 03
Restore power, confront Wesker's plan, and fight the first Tyrant by circling at medium range instead of trading hits at close range.
-
Step 04
During the escape, release any surviving partner, reach the helipad, signal Brad, and use the dropped Rocket Launcher if the final Tyrant appears.
Mansion escaped with the chosen ending.
Secrets & field notes
Optional knowledge for safer runs and fuller completion.
Examine every key item
Rotate books, crests, medals and containers in the inventory; several transform or reveal hidden components.
Combat is optional
Many hall enemies can be bypassed. Save ammunition for forced encounters, Hunters and bosses.
Multiple endings
Which partners survive depends on rescue actions and route decisions made before the final escape.
Questions players ask
Direct answers to common progression blocks.
Should I start with Jill or Chris?
Jill is generally more approachable because she carries more items and has the lockpick. Chris offers a tougher resource-management route.
Why does an item seem useless?
Choose Examine and rotate it. Many objects reveal a switch, inscription or second item.
Can I save everyone?
Yes, but the exact rescue requirements differ by character route and require completing optional partner objectives.
